Happy Place

I have been a fan of Stargate ever since I first saw the Movie back in 1994. I fell in love with the character Daniel Jackson right back then. Once I started watching Stargate SG-1, I quickly became totally besotted by Richard Dean Anderson's portrayal of Colonel Jack O'Neill, and Michael Shanks' Dr Daniel Jackson, depsite my concern that neither of these characters were being played by the original actors. After that, I discovered the world of Jack/Daniel slash. In fact, I'd actually been slashing them without realising that's what I'd been doing. My first foray in to the world of J/D was thanks to that awesome peice of fan-fiction - Dr Jackson's Diary - THING! written by that extremely talented writer Anais. I had never slashed TV characters before, but the incredible chemistry between Jack and Daniel is undeniable. Sadly, TPTB decided to deconstruct this amazing relationship in favour of what I think of as Sam'n'Sir. Sorry, but I never saw anything remotely resembling a sexual attraction between Captain/Doctor/Major/Colonel Samantha Carter and Colonel/General Jack O'Neill. Not only did TPTB's decision to 'ship' these two characters result in the attempted deconstruction of Jack and Daniel's relationship, but it also ruined the team dynamic and sadly, created a lot of resentment towards Sam. Even with the contraints of the writer's paranoia regarding Jack and Daniel's relationship, the chemistry between those two men shines even in the briefest of scenes. Whereas, most scenes that invlove anything more than professional intercations between Sam'n'Sir are awkard and stilted - two classic examples - When Sam goes alone to Jack's house in Lost City, and the 'Stalker Sam' scene in Threads. And people think those two are made for each other ?? !!Of course, another side effect of this 'Sam'n'Sir business was the wallpapering of Daniel - now, much as I would love to have Daniel wallpaper in my house, I sure don't want it in episodes of SG-1 *wink*

I never saw any romantic chemistry between those two charcaters, I cannot understand how anyone can, and apart from the fact that there is no chemistry between them, they are just so wrong for each other!
