A Wedding Jack tore his eyes away from his best man and inspected his watch for the millionth time, he knew Daniel was rolling his eyes as he deliberately made a great show of tapping it and checking it was working. He then looked at Daniel and sighed impatiently. “I know she’s late Jack, brides prerogative.” And, just for the hell of it he deliberately launched in to a lengthy exposition of the wedding customs of the various cultures he’d studied over the years. As he spoke he had the tiniest of impish smiles on his face. Jack used the time to gaze at the archaeologist, admiring him in his ‘best man’s’ get up. “Although.” He glanced at his best friend. “She is very late, maybe she’s got cold feet?” He paused, took a breath, steadied himself and continued. "You know, if she doesn't show, people are going to think that…you and I are…" Jack stared at Daniel. "What?" He retorted and then stared at the ground waiting. Then made a decision. “Good.” He said softly so only Daniel could hear. And stared Daniel straight in the eye. Daniel’s eyebrows shot almost in to his hairline. “Good?” He questioned, surprised. “Yes, Daniel. Now shut up for a minute, I’ve got something I wanna ask you, before it’s too late.” Daniel stared at Jack, an expression of confusion on his face. “Er, Daniel.” He reached out and took Daniel’s hand. “I love you, will you marry me?” The entire congregation heard this, gasped, and were now holding their collective breaths waiting for Daniel’s response. Daniel froze, stared at Jack, blinked a few times, which sent Jack’s already butterfly filled stomach in to a series of back flips, and licked his lips, which had suddenly gone very dry, an action, which almost undid Jack completely. Jack was almost passing out with trepidation waiting for Daniel’s response. “Yes.” Daniel whispered. He cleared his throat. “Yes, Jack, I will marry you.” He said resolutely, and a huge grin lit up his face. For a moment Jack remained motionless, almost afraid to believe what he’d heard. He then grabbed Daniel’s face and engaged him in a very long and very passionate kiss. The congregation erupted in to a cacophony of cheers and whoops; loud whistles pierced the air, and several delighted cries of ‘At last’ and ‘About time.’ One voice was heard to loudly announce their elation at having won a substantial sum in the betting pool. Teal’c happily stood in as best man. World peace was declared. The Ancients were so delighted that they dealt with the Ori and the Wraith as a wedding present. Sam ended up with (insert name of potential Mrs Carter). And they all lived happily ever after.
